Resources for Starting
a Support Group
FSR is committed to providing people
affected by sarcoidosis with the support
they need to successfully cope with this
disease and committed to stimulating the
launch of new groups across the country.
In addition
to providing free educational materials to
dozens of sarcoidosis support groups with
hundreds of members, the Foundation has
recruited volunteer leaders from more than
10 groups throughout the country to serve on
a Support Group Advisory Council. Together
with these patient advocates, FSR is laying
the groundwork for a nationwide support
group referral network and outlining tools
to assist new groups through the development
of a Support Group Leader's Manual. We are
confident that we are actively increasing
local access to information through these
new and needed patient resources.

FSR Support Group Manual
The Advisory Council has made exciting
progress in the development of a tool-kit to
help new leaders provide better access to
local information and emotional support.
Work on the manual is ongoing, however, as
chapters are finished, they are made
available to the public through this Web
site.
Sadly in 2008, we lost a founding Council
Member, Doris
Peterson to sarcoidosis. The manual is
dedicated to her memory.
